It's been a long time since I’ve posted here.
Honestly, I spent the last part of the school year trying to make it to the end, just like many of you.
But school is out and I’ve had some time to breathe. I’m also co-directing the TAB Institute this summer and I’ve been so inspired by what I've seen and heard in Session I this week.
I’m thinking about…..
“Art teachers need to make art to understand the creative process”.
- Clyde Gaw. I heard him say this as I was listening during the studio session and I grabbed the visual journal I bought six months ago and actually made art! He was right - I did feel more connected to the creative process. I also felt content, present and connected. Thank you, Clyde! I added more today!
I use lots of words to describe things, but after listening to Diane Jaquith and Kathy Douglas talk about TAB's 3 sentence curriculum (What do artists do? The child is the artist. The classroom is the child's studio) in their wonderful keynote, I was inspired and made this image. It captures what’s essential for me in my studio classroom- a whole curriculum could be build around it.
More on that later.
It feels good to be inspired.
Will the keynote be available at some point for those of us who couldnt attend?
