I've been making zines (short for magazine) with students for just a year but it’s already one of my favorite projects. I love it because it gives students a chance to select a topic they care about and work in any style.
I introduce the zines with this presentation.
Coming up with an idea can be challenging, so we start by group listing to explore multiple possibilities.
Next, students develop ideas by selecting media, planning layout, deciding on text and choosing the type of fold they’d like to use.
They are expressive, individual and just all around amazing!
