I’m writing about Explorations today for a second time. People seemed to appreciate the resources I shared late last year and realized I had a few more, so I decided to share them here as well.
A brief explanation of Explorations, as I wrote about previously
Explorations, most importantly, teach learning through experimentation and problem-solving. In each Exploration, I plan mini lessons to teach techniques with a focus on collecting information that will be used to make meaningful choices.
I use Explorations in different ways depending on the class. I use them as units to cover a range of media with my Beginning class, as resources to support choice with my Student-Directed Studio class, and to introduce media or themes to my Art 3 class. I’ve also planned Exploration inspired content for my AP Art History class. For me, they are flexible and effective ways to teach. Most important, however, is the focus on experimenting and collecting new information - a key skill for all artists.
All the images below are linked to slide decks or videos I’ve created. I hope they are helpful. Please borrow whatever you can use. 😊
Hi Melissa, I clicked on perspective, but the link for still life opened. Also in still life, on slide 4, you say your, but I think you meant, you.
These look great. Thanks.
